Early introduction into caring for young teeth not only establishes a sound foundation that will grow with your child, but also keeps their mouths and bodies healthy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">When should my child see a dentist?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Children of any age benefit from learning the importance of oral hygiene; the earlier the better.&nbsp; Talk with the dentist Polaris families respect, Dr. Young, about what oral milestones your child should experience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How can you get involved?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Besides visiting the dentist with your child every 6 months, good oral health starts at home.&nbsp; Gently brushing your baby\u2019s gums with dental wipes eases pain when teething and rids the mouth of bacteria.&nbsp; As teeth emerge a proper, soft-bristled toothbrush can be introduced.&nbsp; When applicable, your child may want to brush their own teeth as they being to experiment with independence.&nbsp; This helps them work on their fine motor skills.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It is important to note, however, that children are still learning and fine-tuning their movements.&nbsp; Allow your child to brush and floss, but find a fun way to be included in the regimen. &nbsp;Pretend to be the dentist when they complete their own brushing and brush their teeth again so to be sure the teeth get clean.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Music, books, and technology<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>There is no short supply of children\u2019s books, songs, videos, and apps that cover oral hygiene.&nbsp; Find a method that is appropriate for your child\u2019s age and holds their attention.&nbsp; Learn a song about brushing so your child begins to understand how long you should brush your teeth.&nbsp;
